The new year brings an exciting time as we celebrate our 35th year of work in Alberta's communities. Since 1984 we have worked hard to not only save wild lives but to nurture a connection to our environment.
Projects during our anniversary year include:
- Complete new wildlife hospital
- Develop a small interpretive centre to welcome visitors
- Develop an onsite and on-line gift shop
- Hold a Grand Opening – tentatively late September 2019
- Complete some improvements to the Nature Trail and Viewing Tower
- Reduce the land debt
- Dismantle old raptor cages and build the new raptor compound
- Take part in Westerner Days Parade
- Develop and implement new website
- Implement new Internship Program
- Implement a new donor management system
- Implement new phone system to streamline the over 10,000 annual phone calls
- Build a turkey vulture nest site to encourage turkey vultures on the property
Here's how you can get involved:
- It's our 35th Anniversary - be a monthly supporter by committing to $35 per month for the year
- Buy or help sell “Collector 35th Anniversary Mug”
- Help with the construction, maintenance, landscaping, etc
- Offer special skills you might have to develop the gift shop, phone system, or donor management system
- Develop a special activity for Wildlife Week
- Join the Hospital Grand Opening Committee
- Help with the parade float design and implementation
